The 5th Annual All-Star Charity Tennis Event at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne

Sazoneros! I hope you've been enjoying the amazing weather in Miami this week. Since I've been soaking in all outdoor events lately, I had the pleasure of checking out this year's 5th annual All-Star Charity Tennis Event over at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne on Tuesday, March 18th. The world's top men’s and women’s players returned to The Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center to support First Serve Miami, an organization that helps economically and socially challenged youth learn tennis and valuable life skills by participating in free, affordable tennis and education programs throughout the school year, as well as during the summer. On March 18th, 24 amateur players had the opportunity to test their skills in a Round Robin qualifying tournament in which the winners earned a chance to play against and alongside our favorite tennis superstars. Here's a rundown of the players who participated in the event this year:

Novak Djokovic- won six Grand Slam titles and ranked number 2 in the world

Serena Williams- currently ranked number one single’s women player in the world and 17 time Grand Slam winner

Ana Ivanovic- former number 1 singles player in the world and winner of the French Open

Venus Williams- former World No. 1 and is ranked World No. 29 in singles as of March 1, 2014.

Fernando Verdasco- In 2013, Verdasco along with doubles partner David Marrero, beat the Bryan brothers to win the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.

During the tennis event, I ran into my fabulous friend Kara Franker (pictured above on the right) who actually played against the pros that day! GO KARA!!! The event raised $18,000 for First Serve Miami. Check out the photo below from the check presentation ceremony which took place after the last match of the evening. I've also dropped a video below so that you can watch a little bit of the action from the "Battle of the Sexes" match which was played by the Williams sisters, Novak and Fernando. Now, let's see who will win this year's Sony Open Tennis Tournament....leave me a comment with your best guess!
